The session presents insights drawn from in-depth interviews with leading figures in academia and industry, revealing a quiet revolution currently underway: from creative solutions for resource scarcity and waste surplus to the growth of a robust construction and infrastructure ecosystem, both in Israel and globally. The talk outlines the barriers, opportunities, and technological advancements that will shape a sustainable built environment, while emphasizing the critical importance of cross-sector collaboration.
What Readers Say
Adi is a fresh and important voice in the Israeli construction industry. Her book, ‘Innovation in Raw Materials and Construction Products,’ is an asset to anyone engaged in planning and construction, presenting true innovation regarding raw materials and building products. As someone closely familiar with the field’s challenges, I can attest that Adi’s knowledge and passion for advancing the industry are exceptional.
It is quite difficult to translate my thoughts about the book reviews into English, but thank you for sharing the book. I read it and learned a great deal about the mindset of the people who surround you and about your field of work.
Looking back, I realize there was a significant gap between how I perceived the field before reading the book and after. I am a former diligent student who studied courses in strength of materials, rigid body mechanics, and various types of deformations. These subjects were always wrapped in coefficients, derivatives, and integrals. There was also another side I never truly learned properly – the chemistry and biology of materials, which, when others talk about them, are as clear to me as Chinese.
Fortunately, in your book I encountered no mathematical or chemical challenges. Instead, I listened to people speaking about what matters to them, connecting with the reason they get up every morning, coloring what excites them, and sharing how they cope with routine and with living in a world that does not naturally leap toward innovation.
The journey was light, engaging, and enriching. It significantly expanded my understanding of the content areas you work in, and perhaps in the future I will even dare to express opinions on circular economies, urban mining, the gap between natural and industrial textures, and the impact of design on enabling habitats for biodiversity.
